Sometimes mission life is hard.

Wow I am doing bad at updating this. I will try and do better. Pictures coming soon.

Hello to my family,

Lets see about mothers day we haven't heard anything yet. The truth is
that they have mothers day down here on the 26th of May so maybe we
wont get to call you then....who knows? Hopefully we will find out
soon. I hear that you call us but I wont give you my number yet. I
don't want to be receiving phone calls before hand. In my district we
have 4 Elders and then it is Hermana Nevarez and I. We are pretty
small compared to the other districts. I did not take a picture at
Zone conference. There isn't enough time because we are also with
another Zone when we have conference. With my shoes I wear size 8 I
think it is a size 38 European. I am not sure I am wearing my tennis
shoes right now because we are playing wally after this. With my
shoes though there is a man at the corner who fixed them for 6 pesos.
Just to let you know that is less then a dollar, it isn't the best
fixing I have seen but I needed shoes and I was just happy it was only
6 pesos. I ha vent been teaching an English class yet but the Bishop
asked Hermana Nevarez and I to think of a day and start teaching. We
think we will to it on Thursdays but we aren't sure yet. HAPPY LATE
BIRTHDAY CHANCE AND GRANDMA HANCEY. I wished you a Happy Birthday out
loud here on those days so I hope that counts.
Lets see my week was good but bad so in Spanish mas o menos. It
started off good we actually went to Elders area and work there for a
day. It is a new thing the Zone is doing every other week. We all
head out and work in one area for a day so we can get the Elders or
Hermanas who work in that area new people to teach and references. It
was a lot of fun, it was good to be in a different area. It was out
in the country to so that was exciting. We actually had to go up a
trail to get to someones house. I told Hermana Nevarez we are
probably going to get tics and she freaked out just a bit. Then it
was going good until it hit Saturday. Saturday was probably the worst
day I have had out here. Let me tell you why, so we had an incident
on Friday night and thought it would probably be safer if we came home
at 8 instead of nine. We had an appointment at 10 which we usually we
don't have one till 11 because 10 is my language study time. Well so
we head off the the appointment and we hear talking. When we knock on
the door they stopped and got all quiet. We knocked again and waited.
Yep they sure didn't answer, then we went to talk to our plan B and
she was leaving for the day. Then we went to our 11 appointment, who
wasn't there. Then we just started walking to lunch and contacting
people along the way because Lunch was at the end of our area. Guess
who forgot they were supposed to feed the missionaries, it would have
been better to say that they were home but they weren't. We thought
maybe they went somewhere quick but no we waited and then left. We
had to walk back to the other side of our area where they have the
food. We ate at Tawain Pollo. I really like that restaurant it is
very good I must say. Then we went to appointments who weren't there
and we knocked on door after door after door and all we got was Somos
Catolicos, or no tiempo. Then we got to this one door and you know
what happened?.........¨nothing¨......yea so you see where I am going
with this........ha ha name that movie! Really though that is what
happened then we did have an appointment at the other end of our area
and I thought for sure they were going to be there and nope they
weren't. We didn't teach one lesson that day, it was rough. I told Hna
Nevarez tomorrow would be better because Johana was going to come to
church.....guess who didn't come to church. She also had a baptism
date for the 8 of May which wont happen now because she has to asist
church 3 times. Ah it was rough but that is the life of the mission.
Just gotta keep going and keep looking for the people the lord has
prepared. Maybe the Lord was just like you cant have a baptism on the
8 that is Mothers day. He was just looking out for you.
This week they celebrate Semana Santa, yep it is a whole week of
drinking and fire works. On Friday everything it seemed was closed
down. They don't eat meat on this day only fish. By they I mean the
Catholics and almost everyone is catholic down here. They also serve
12 plates of different food. Thank goodness I have a pensenista and
she only cooked one. We did get a couple of things of Arroz con
Leche. It reminds me of rice pudding. Other than that nothing to
special happened. That is my weekly report. I hope you enjoyed it.
The church is true and the Lord has a purpose for everything. It
might be to teach us a lesson or make us stronger for something bigger
to come. The Lord loves you and I sure Love you

Hermana Nielsen
